In marketing: Authenticity is everything!
Authenticity isn't easy. Whether it's creating community or utilizing user generated content across social media, it takes a lot of time and effort to create truly authentic content. (Seems a little counterintuitive doesn't it?)
Authenticity has become so inauthentic that several marketers are opting out of using user generated content, also known as U G C, in their campaigns
But cooler and outdoor brand Yeti has unearthed an effective UGC strategy over the past couple of months putting out several Instagram stories featuring products that have been through the ringer.
For instance the brand has posted examples of coolers that have survived (well at least they're still recognizable) boat fires and being dragged 20 miles along the highway. Another video shows a water bottle that was pulled out of a truck fire and still had ice in it.

BeReal: What’s the appeal of Gen Z’s new fave app
While we’re on the topic of authenticity, the marketing and social media community is all abuzz over the new BeReal app that’s making the rounds.
BeReal is the ultimate “don’t overthink it app.”
Its goal is to capture real, not curated or highly produced moments.
When you sign up for a BeReal account, the app will randomly send you one notification a day. You then have two minutes to take a picture of whatever it is you’re doing at that exact moment.
The extra cool feature of BeReal is it activates both your front and back phone cameras, so your followers get a look at your face and your surroundings all in one quick update.

Shopify invests in marketing automation platform Klaviyo
In what can only be described as interesting timing, Shopify this week announced a $100 million dollar investment in marketing automation platform Klaviyo
The investment comes a week after Shopify reported disappointing Q2 revenue and announced layoffs of about 10 percent of its workforce.
TechCrunch reported that the disclosure coincided with the announcement that Klaviyo and Shopify will strengthen their existing partnership by making Klaviyo the recommended email product for Shopify’s premium merchant plan, Shopify Plus, while granting Klaviyo early access to in-development Shopify features.
Gifting platform, Govalo, launches new integration with Recharge
While on the topic of partnerships, gifting platform, Govalo, announced that it has launched a new integration with Recharge.
This Govalo x Recharge integration makes it possible for merchants who have built a successful gifting program to capture all the benefits of both gifting and subscription commerce.
Govalo is a digital platform that brings all the benefits of gifting to Shopify stores, while ReCharge enables subscription services across eCommerce sites.
